Equines at Soulstice Ranch

Some domestic and some wild, we have come up with a holistic and individualized plan for every animal here.

Mr. Bojangles the wonder burro! Bojangles is a six year old BLM Burro from Bullfrog, NV. Bojangles was Emily’s 2021 MA Mustang Makeover draw, and finished the competition winning all of the classes! Bojangles is a really special burro. He loves snacks and ear scratches, and bray’s VERY loudly when Emily walks out to the field (sorry neighbors!)
Dakota, the mayor of Soulstice! Dakota is the reason behind everything Soulstice is. Dakota is Emily’s first “heart & soul horse” and has taught her everything she knows. Dakota is friendly, kind, and loves to investigate any and everything! If you come visit the ranch, Dakota will be the first to greet you for a scratch or perform a smile!
This is Chance! Chance was bought for behavioral rehabilitation and we realized that pain was limiting him. Chance has chronic Lyme. Chance is sweet and sensitive, he adores children! Chance’s best friend is Xena bean. Chance’s partner’s are the whole farm, as he makes it very known he wants to do what he feels safe doing. So we let Chance guide us with what he wants and needs!
Jethro, the most colorful appaloosa x draft! Jethro is big boned and strong willed. Jethro is so intelligent, kind, and sometimes suspicious. Since being at the Ranch we have seen Jethro go from not wanting to be caught for training, to the absolute training enthusiast. He is big hearted, silly, goofy, and the most gentle loving horse! Jethro is Emily’s partner.
This is Xena, or as we call her, “Bean.” I’m not sure how Xena became Bean, but she is an absolute sweetheart. Xena was previously worked hard as an Amish horse, and was pulled from a kill pen lot. The scars on her face show what she’s been through, as well as her complete blindness. Although she has faced many challenges, she is still one of the most kind animals I have ever met. Xena is everyone’s partner, as she is the resident therapy horse, everyone who meets her loves her.
This is Argos, his partner is Dan. Argos was pulled from a kill pen and we were told he was twelve years old and a ranch horse. Argos we believe is quite a few years older than that. Argos has Cushing’s Disease, Lyme disease, and some other health conditions, which do limit some of his stamina, however he is always eager to work. Argos is the sweetest, most trying horse, and after all he has been through, he is a true gift.
Jack Frost is a BLM Mustang from Fifteen Mile HMA, in Wyoming. Jack’s partner is Emily. Jack struggled with people understanding him, and is quite reactive if training isn’t on his terms or is unkind (as most horses should be this strong in their truth.) Jack is actually quite the gentle giant, even being wild for seven years. Jack Frost is the most stoic and thoughtful horse I have ever met. P.S. He’s also a unicorn, we’re pretty sure.
